Denise Funkhouser

Director of Tenant Services

Denise Funkhouser is the Director of Tenant Services at the General Services Administration (GSA).  GSA has an inventory of over 374 million square feet housing close to 1 million tenants in over 8,700 assets.  She is responsible for tenant services in both owned and leased facilities.  Tenant services encompass amenity spaces, such as, food service, fitness centers and health units; lease management in over 7,100 leases; the survey which measures the condition and comfort of the workspace environment; and incorporation of health and wellness into GSA’s workspace environments.  She was also GSA’s project sponsor of Fitwel.

Prior to her role at GSA, she was the Deputy Director for Administrative Operations at the U.S. Secret Service where she was responsible for managing their facilities world-wide.  She was also the Chief of Buildings Management and the National Telecommunications Manager for the Immigration and Naturalization Service at Headquarters and their Central Regional Director of Facilities and Engineering.  She also worked in private industry as a space planner for architectural/engineering firms specializing in health care facilities and led space management at a commercial developer.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and Master of General Administration from the University of Maryland.
