Koben Calhoun

Koben Calhoun is a Manager in the buildings and electricity practices at the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI). Within buildings, Koben is leading the Portfolio Energy Optimization initiative focused on advancing an innovative, mass-customized approach to delivering clean energy solutions to private commercial buildings. As part of this work, Koben is leading RMI’s analysis on designing optimized energy efficiency measures and identifying best-in-class building energy management technology. In addition, Koben partners closely with industry to explore new business models, engage stakeholders, and define new paths to market for commercial energy retrofits.

Koben has experience in energy policy and economics, statistical analysis, and energy modeling. He has led a national collaboration to research and implement clean energy infrastructure in cities, worked as a technical advisor on green building and zero energy projects, and consulted on developing new programs and policies to address the impacts of climate change on buildings and cities. While in graduate school at the University of Michigan, Koben focused on energy policy and researching the impacts of climate change on buildings and cities.
