Zach Dobelbower

Zach Dobelbower is the Associate Director of Sustainability and Energy at the DC Department of General Services. He has spent most of the last twelve years developing urban sustainability policies and programs and implementing climate change mitigation strategies in Washington, DC. Mr. Dobelbower oversees advanced energy management, resource conservation, and utility services, on behalf of 83 customer agencies, in 400 buildings, across 28 million square feet of real estate owned by the District Government. Zach recently managed procurement and led the implementation of two utility-scale Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), a 46-megawatt wind farm (offsite, PJM) and an 11-megawatt solar project, which provides 30% clean energy to all District facilities. He daily manages the best team on the planet. From 2009 to 2012, Zach owned and operated a DC based energy efficiency company and prior to that served as the District’s Urban Sustainability Planner in the DC Office of Planning. Zach holds an MPA from American University, a BA from the University of Oklahoma, and DAD to Henry and Mattie.
